Antonio Fallico: The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and Italy’s participation in it as an honorary guest-country pose new opportunities for reviving business relations
Moscow, Florence, May 27th, 2016. Florence (Tuscany Region) hosted on Friday the Second Russia-Italy Business Seminar. Italy’s prospects as an honorary participant of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which is to take place on June 16-18, were the key subject of the discussion.
The participants of the seminar were welcomed by Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella, President of the Regional Council of Tuscany Eugenio Giani, Ambassador of Italy to Russia Cesare Maria Ragaglini and Ambassador of Russia to Italy Sergey Razov. The seminar was organized by the Association “Conoscere Eurasia” and the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum with support from the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, Banca CR Firenze, Banca Intesa (Russia) and Roscongress. Entrepreneurs from Italy and Russia, heads of business support institutions addressed their messages at the seminar.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banca Intesa, President of the Association “Conoscere Eurasia” Antonio Fallico pointed to the growth of export from the Tuscany Region to Russia in 2015 (+42.4% versus import at -51.3% and the general volume at EUR 1.03 bn), which actually contradicts the tendency to shrinking of the Russia-Italy trade turnover. “It demonstrates that sanctions and counter sanctions within the past 2 years have affected the trade balance dramatically, but they did not zero out the prior achievements of the Italian companies. While the global economy still hasn’t gotten rid of the paralyzing ideological buildups, we should work to restore the trust. Russia and Italy are amicable countries, and strategically supplement each other”, he said.
He stressed, that in these challenging conditions the success of the XX Anniversary St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and Italy’s participation in it as an honorary guest is of the highest importance. It poses for Italy the opportunity to play the leading role in reviving the relations between the European countries and Russia.
The Association “Conoscere Eurasia” upon the instruction of the Roscongress and in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Russia builds the Italian pavilion at the Forum. The pavilion will represent the largest Italian enterprises working in Russia and the latest technologies and know-hows which are of strongest interest to the Russian partners. The companies are combined into 5 groups: machinery building and hi-tech, energy, agriculture, infrastructure and finances. All press-releases
