CORPORATE KNIGHTS GLOBAL 100 LIST ANNOUNCED AT THE DAVOS FORUM
INTESA SANPAOLO AMONG THE TOP 100 SUSTAINABLE CORPORATIONS IN THE WORLD
THE ONLY ITALIAN CORPORATION ON THE LIST
Milan, January 27, 2014 - Intesa Sanpaolo has been included as one of the top 100 sustainable corporations in the world according to the list compiled by Corporate Knights, the Canadian magazine specialised in clean capitalism. This is a significant recognition considering that Intesa Sanpaolo is the only Italian corporation included in this special list, which aims to highlight top corporations that have developed the best strategies to manage risks and opportunities in the environmental, social and governance fields.
Since it was founded in 2005, Corporate Knights has analysed 4,000 corporations worldwide against twelve indicators. Among these, particular importance is placed on policies focused on the environment, human resources, remuneration policy, management commitment to sustainability, innovation, and transparency.
The basis of this important recognition, which was presented at the World Economic Forum in Davos, is Intesa Sanpaolo's well-established commitment in the sustainability field. In 2013 the Bank’s commitment led to additional relevant successes with its name appearing in CDP’s Italy 100 Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) for the second year in a row, as well as in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index and the FTSE4Good index.
"Intesa Sanpaolo's presence in the Global 100 list compiled by the prestigious Corporate Knights magazine," stated the Managing Director of Intesa Sanpaolo, Carlo Messina, "represents an important testament to the seriousness of our commitment to the environment, the Group's human resources, innovation, and transparency. In our Group, the concept of sustainability applies to all aspects of our business: long-term economic and income sustainability, and at the same time, social and environmental sustainability. We welcome this important recognition as an impetus to continue along the chose path, and to constantly improve our sustainable development performance."
