April 16th, 2014, Moscow, Verona. Nine Russian writers had a one-week journey to Italy, arranged by Banca Intesa, the Federal Agency on Press and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation and the non-profit Association Conoscere Eurasia. The journey is aimed at fostering of economic and cultural relations between Russia and Italy. The travel route covered the Veneto region in the North of Italy.
The participants of the journey are writers who contributed significantly to literature, literary awards prizewinners and authors whose works were translated into Italian: Sergey Belyakov, Evgeny Vodolazkin, Andrey Volos, Maya Kucherskaya, Nina Litvinets, Evgeny Popov, Olga Slavnikova, Alexey Slapovsky, Anna Yampolskaya.
Seeking for inspiration for the future publications the Russian writers could plunge into the beauty of the Veneto region having enjoyed the sights of Verona, Venice, Vicenza, Merano, Bolzano, Sabbioneta, Mantova and the largest lake in Italy Grada at the root of Alps.

The in-depth understanding of the role of culture in the international relations determines Banca Intesa and the Association Conoscere Eurasia to support the cultural exchange between Russia and Italy on top-level. Last year on our invitation nine Italian writes visited Russia and now the Russian writers follow this tradition of mutual exchange of expertise and creative ideas.
