The Head of Supervisory Council of Intesa Sanpaolo Group Giovanni Bazoli presented his book “Market and Inequality”

October 3, 2014, Moscow. The Head of Supervisory Council of Intesa Sanpaolo Group, professor Giovanni Bazoli presented new book “Market and equality”. The presentation was held at Italian embassy in Moscow.

In his new book Giovanni Bazoli, the author of wide range of publications on issues related to economics and ethics, deals with problems of globalization, growing danger of environmental devastation, possibilities of economic democracy establishment, return to healthy and wise dialectic of power and freedom. The author gave special attention to Christian humanistic and social values.

“Modern economics did not pay much attention to such issues as justice and social equality. Nowadays companies are treated as units of output, which generate profit. To my mind we should overview current approaches and existing models. We must abandon liberal approach, according to which economics ignores the most important issues of equality”, - professor Bazoli stated during the presentation of the book.

The Ambassador of Italy in Moscow Cesare Maria Ragaglini, Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar, Deputy Chairperson of the Department of external church communications of the Moscow Patriarchate archimandrite Philaret, the head of Apostolic Nunciature in Moscow, titular archbishop of Krbava (Corbavia) Ivan Jurkovic took part in the presentation. The moderator was the chief editor of “Expert” Alexandr Fadeev.

About Giovanni Bazoli

Lawyer. Professor of  Administrative law and Institutions of public law at Università Cattolica in Milano until 2003. In 1982 he was one of the prime movers of Nuovo Banco Ambrosiano and remained continuously at the head of that institution until the establishment of Intesa Sanpaolo in January 2007. He is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Intesa Sanpaolo. Knighted for Services to Industry: “Cavaliere del Lavoro” and “Cavaliere di Gran Croce" in Italy, and “Officier de la Légion d’Honneur” in France. He also holds “Honoris causa” degrees in “Economia Bancaria”, from Università degli Studi di Macerata, and in “Conservazione dei beni culturali” from Università degli Studi di Udine. He is Chairman of Fondazione Giorgio Cini of Venice.
